Llyn Llech Owain lake lies within the Llyn Llech Owain Country Park, which is managed by Carmarthenshire County Council. The lake is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, surrounded by peat bog. The country park comprises of largely coniferous woodland, with areas of heath and broad-leafed woodland. There is an information and visitor centre beside the lake and a network of paths throughout the 64ha park for walkers and cyclists.
