Description
The open-air swimming baths in Brynamman opened on 11 August 1934 and were built by unemployed miners. It is located adjacent to the rugby ground, north of Amman Road. Bounded by changing boxes, the baths exemplify the simple yet elegant vision of the 1930s welfare movement. Measuring 15m x 30m approximately, the baths remained an extremely popular attraction throughout the twentieth century but became, in 2010, the very last casualty of the movement and finally closed due to structural faults.
