Description
The Rock Baths opened in 1938 and were part of a series of twelve open-air swimming bath opened across South Wales that were funded by the Special Areas Commission in the 1930s. So-named because of the Rock Brewery which occupied the site until the early 1920s, the baths were closed in 1974 by Cynon Valley Borough Council despite local protests. Modern indoor swimming baths were opened in the town in the 1980s.
