The open-air swimming baths in Caerphilly were built in the mid-1930s after the opening of Morgan Jones Park in 1934. Funded by the Special Areas Commission, these are part of a group of twelve such swimming baths paid for in this way. With the advent of modern, indoor swimming pools in the 1970s and 1980s baths such as these were demolished and replaced, as in this case, with paddling pools open in the summer months only.
