Immediately to the northeast of the lighthouse (NPRN 268159) is a modern helicopter landing pad. A LIDAR survey has revealed that this overlies a rectangular enclosure, internally sub-divided into seven compartments. This enclsoure is the old kitchen garden for the inhabitants of the lighthouse, and is still extant on a 1946 RAF vertical aerial photograph (DI2011_0752).
