Description
Penrhyn Railway Museum is located within the old stables of Penrhyn Castle (NPRN 16687). The museum houses various items of rolling stock and locomotives, including the 'Fire Queen', which is a remarkable Horlock 0-4-0 of 1848 from the nearby Dinorwic Quarry Railway (NPRN 40559). The collection also includes Hunslet saddle tanks 'Charles and High Napier' from the Penrhyn Quarry (NPRN 40564) system, and 'Llanfair', a vertical boiler locomotive built by DeWinton's of Caernarfon, which formerly shunted the quays at Penmaenmawr stone quarries.
