Description
The Caerphilly Co-operative Garden Village Society planned to erect on the Fairfield Estate, Pontygwindy Road, a garden village development of around 100 houses with an Institute, playing field and a park. By 1913 only the first stage, comprising eight houses now nos. 69-83 Pontygwindy Road, had been built, the rest of the project being abandoned and the site used for a school and grounds. The eight houses consist of four two-storey, brick-built, hipped roof semi-detached buildings, each dwelling having a front and back garden; the houses have been modernised with new doors and windows fitted, most have pebble-dashed or painted external walls and some chimney stacks have been demolished.
