Built in the 1930s, the open-air swimming baths in Risca remained in use until the construction of a modern, indoor leisure centre in the 1970s (it opened in 1978) left the baths redundant. Though still extant, they have been earmarked for demolition by the local authority given their derelict state. Typical of the concrete, modernist baths of the period.
