Festival Park, Ebbw Vale comprises of a shopping centre, leisure attractions, woodland, an owl sanctuary and lakes. It is built on the site of the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival of Wales, which was held in 1992. The Garden Festival was part of a 1980s Government initiative in response to the decline of heavy industry. The Garden Festival at Ebbw Vale was the last one, and proved very popular, attracting over 2 million visitors during its few months of opening.
