Description
A plaque on the wall of Denbigh Town Hall commemorates the accommodation in the town of the 733rd Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army. A tented camp was established on the southern side of the town, on sports field that belonged to Howells School for Girls. The US Army brought their observation aircraft, Piper L4 Cubs, which used the field now the football ground for takeoffs and landings. The Army unit was deployed to Omaha Beach during the D Day landings in June 1944.
