Description
Llanfair Caereinion signal box is at Llanfair Caereinion station (nprn 404331), western terminus of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway (nprn 43037). Dating from 1967, the signal box was a one-and-a-half storey brick building under a pitched slated roof, with a Dutton & Co. lever-frame from Llanbrynmair. It was rebuilt on the same site in 2002 in the style of a Dutton box, of brick-to-floor construction with a weatherboarded upper floor under a pitched roof. There is an external wooden access stairway at the south end. The Dutton frame is believed to have 17 levers, with tappet locking, and is currently in use.
