Part of the Maenofferen Slate Mine (NPRN 400427), the Sawmill forms the central unit of a Smithy and Workshop range (NPRN 415926). It measures 7.4m x 10.5m internally with a central doorway with windows either side in the south wall, and two four light windows in the north wall. Sections of tramway track still survive within the Sawmill floor. The interior walls are rendered and pained white and there is a concrete floor. Internal doors lead to the Smithy (NPRN 415929) through the east partition door and to the Engineering Workshop (NPRN 415933) through the west partition wall. The Sawmill was decommissioned in 1999 and the majority of the equipment left in situ, including a belt-driven saw against the east wall and the machinery driveshaft in the roof space.
