Llantrisant station was an intermediate station on the South Wales Main Line. It was rebuilt in the mid-1920s following the amalgamation of the Great Western Railway and the Taff Vale Railway and thereafter consisted of two central through platforms serving the Ely Valley Line and the Cowbridge branch line. The station was closed on 2 November 1964. It re-opened as an unmanned station (as Pontyclun station) on the Cheltenham Spa to Maesteg service on 28 September 1992.
