Description
Barry Island Railway was established in 1994, opening to the public as a tourist railway in 1997, and ran between Barry Island Station, Hood Road Station and Woodham Halt. It closed in 2008.
Originally formed as the Butetown Historical Railway Society based at Bute Road Station (nprn 31744) in Cardiff, the operating society has a complex history, involving two changes of location, the last in 2008 to Pontycymmer on the Garw Valley Railway.
