With around 600 seats, the Coliseum at Caerau was built sometime before the First World War and was use for both films and live performances. In 1933 the venue was taken over by John Lewis (James E. Lewis) who appeared to be in partnership with a Mr Briton. Bankruptcy forced Lewis to sell the venue within a year and the new owners operated the Coliseum solely as a cinema well into the 1950s. The building was demolished in the 1970s many years after closing.
