The Canton Coliseum opened in January 1913 as a 900 seat cinema. In the 1920s the Coliseum was bought by W. E. Willis and became part of the Willis Cinemas circuit. In 1961 the Coliseum began Bingo functions, the success of which allowed for renovation work to be carried out. Gradually Bingo superseded film showings and the final film was shown at the Coliseum in January 1986. The building was soon afterwards sold and demolished for re-development.
