Swansea leisure centre was opened in 1977 by the Queen. It featured a state-of-the-art wave machine, one of the first in Wales. The leisure centre closed in 2003. Following refurbishment and rebranding Swansea leisure centre reopened in May 2008 as the LC. Once again the Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh opened the centre. The leisure centre now features a network of pools, rides and slides, wave pool, multi-purpose sports hall, gym and a 30ft climbing wall.
