Penybryn Senior Special School is a community day and residential school in the Clase district, near Morriston, Swansea. When the school opened in 1953 it was originally for children aged between 7 and 13 but during the first three years a further age group was added so that it eventually catered for pupils aged 7 to 16. The school was organised into Junior and Senior Departments with most children staying on at school until the age of 16. Pen-y-Bryn Special School moved to its present site in Morriston in 1973. The site is divided into a lower school and an upper school.
The main part of the special school caters for day pupils aged 11-19 with an adjoining specialist autistic unit (Maytree) for pupils age 3-19, which includes a residential hostel. The school is comprised of two sites, a Primary and Secondary campus in Clase, Morriston and a newly opened Post-16 campus in Penlan. In 2012, there were approx. 110 pupils attending the Penybryn school.
