Description
One of two closely-spaced cairns located one above the other on the rising south-east side of a col below the eastern slopes of Moel y Llyn, close to a track and a forestry boundary. The lower (westernmost) of the two measures 11m (NE-SW) by 9m and 0.5m high on the uphill side, 2m above the track which passes by on the north-west. Outcrop is exposed at its base where the track has been cut back against it. The mound is turf covered for the most part except for a central crater 3m across and 0.3m deep in which quartz and grit stones are exposed. No structural features are visible either within or around the cairn.
Both this cairn and its near neighbour (NPRN 411572) appear to have been portrayed on the first edition OS 25-inch plan (but not annotated) as conjoining mounds used as boundary markers.

Information originally supplied by J.M.Evans, Llanddeiniol ref: NA/CD/91/59.
Now scheduled as CD239 cairn E.
