Housing in the Castle Dyke Street to Corporation Street area. The are developed with small terraced housing along Castle Street, then on Salusbury Street and Roskell Square. Redevelopment of housing took place in Salusbury Street following the building of housing on Thomas Street and Salusbury Street by Courtaulds Company. In the 1950s further development by the council focused on Castle Street, Corporation Street and New Roskell Square.
The Courtauld's company housing survives amongst what is now predominantely 1950s public housing.
