Description
A small quarry on the steep S facing slopes of the summit of Gyrn. The spoil heaps are difficult to distinguish from the surrounding scree. At the edge of the quarry are a series of open ended buildings with the closed ends facing away from the hillslope. The buildings are divided into compartments which are 0.3m wide and at most 2m high but well built with two faces of stone separated by a rubble infill. It would seem that stone rather than minerals was removed at this site. It probably dates from the 19th century. 500m above O.D.
