DescriptionAmlwch Industrial Heritage Trust note that the Paynter family began to operate a waterdriven sawmill in 1852. It served the various shipbuilding concerns with timber and was powered by a waterwheel located on the harbour side of the building. The building is shown on 1st-3rd ediiton OS 25in mapping, measures 18m x 6m and may have had a waterwheel some 9m (29ft?) diameter (estimated from the mapped slot). The site is obscured by tree cover on modern aerial photography.
