Description
A sandstone tombstone, depticing a man and his wife. It is also known as the Maiden Stone, since local legend holds that it was constructed in memory of two virgins who were murdered there.
The stone was found close to Y Gaer Fort in the 16th century. It was subsequently moved to the north side of the Roman road from Y Gaer to Brecon; and from there to Brecon Museum, where it currently resides.
