Description
Description: A sheep dipping washing complex built on the S side of the Afon Caseg. It consists of an approximate oval drystone sheepfold ca 12m x 5m in plan with roughly built walls ca 1.5m high (max). This enclosure has two entrances. At the S two fences provide a funnel to one and at the N the other gap is provided with a pair of stone flags set in the gap which leads into a deep pool formed in the river behind a dam or weir. Sheep were washed prior to being sheared in the 19th century. This practice continued into the 20th century. Possibly last used within the last 60 years. 350m above O.D.
