Cwrt Sart School in Briton Ferry was built in the early 1900s as a Council School, first appearing on OS 25-inch Third Edition (1913-16). Cwrt Sart Comprehensive School catered for 11-16 year olds and was maintained by Neath Port Talbot Unitary Authority. There were approx. 550 pupils on roll in 2012 with two additional units attached to the school for hearing, speech and language difficulties. Under Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools Programme, the school closed in 2016 as part of merger with Sandfields Comprehensive, Glan Afan Comprehensive, and Traethmelyn Primary School to create Ysgol Bae Baglan. £7m Ysgol Carreg Hir primary school now on site of former Cwrt Sart school (opened 2018).
