Description
St John the Baptist Church in Wales High School is build on the site of the former Glandare House, which is shown on the Ordnance Survey County Series 1st edition mappping of 1868 (Glamorgan, XI, 15). In the 1950s Glandare House became a Barnardos Home for approx 30 boys. In 1966 it officially became a home for boys and girls before it closed in 1970. In 1971 the building was demolished and St John the Baptist High School was built in the grounds of the house. The high school is maintained by Rhondda Cynon Taff LEA and caters for 11-18 year olds, with approx. 960 pupils on roll.
