Working from a coal drift, from the Llwynhelig Colliery (NPRN: 80622), which was operational in the 1920s. The drift was linked to the colliery by a tramway and is shown on the 3rd edition Ordnance Survey County Series mapping of 1920 (Glamorgan, sheet XI 5).
