Part of the 'Lower Teifi Valley' Historic Landscape, the raised beach deposits at Poppit Sands, situated at the Teifi estuary mouth, include deposits of Irish Sea glacial till, and the much more recent and extensive sand dunes rapidly built-up in the later 13th century.
Because of this sand, Poppit Sands is a popular holiday destination.
