Description
Four lime kilns and associated buildings dating to the late 18th/ early 19th century, situated along the 16 mile stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal between Llanymynech and Garthmyl. One of the main objectives of the canal was to dsiribute agricultural lime to the surrounding farms. The canal was also used to transport the raw materials (limestone from the quarries at Llanymynech, and coal from Chirk, Ruabon and Morda) to the kiln sites.
