DescriptionA rectangular building with conjoining enclosures is set within a larger, sub-rectangular enclosure associated with other structures to form an upland homestead (NPRN 275663).
The building, reduced to earthwork status, lies at the foot of the outcrop band which forms the western side of the enclosure. It measures 5.5m (E-W) by 4.2m within walls of coursed slabs about 0.8m thick and surviving to 0.5m high but mostly spread to stony banks 1m-1.5m wide. There is an entrance gap at the south end of the west wall and the interior is strewn with grassy rubble.
The ground behind the building, which rises up the rock exposure, has been enclosed by curvilinear stony banks projecting from each corner of its west end towards the rock face. Most prominent is the bank on the south which rises to 0.8m high and is spread to 2m wide, though coursed revetment walling is exposed in places. The bank on the north is much slighter, 0.4m high and 1.5m wide. The enclosed area measures 20m (N-S) by 10.5m though only a small area 7m by 3m is level.
To the immediate south-east of the building is another enclosed area largely obscured by rush growth, and a straight, low wall which projects towards the northern entrance of the main enclosure.
