Caerau Infant School was established in 1948. Following an appraisal of primary education in Cardiff, from September 2010, Caerau Infant school became part of Pencaerau Primary (together with Cwrt-yr-ala Junior School and Caerau Nursery School), housed in the old Cwrt-yr-ala Junior school . Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Caerau moved to the building which had previously housed the Caerau Infant School in 2010, with sole occupation from July 2012, when Caerau Infants completed their move to the Pencaerau Primary School. Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Caerau is a Welsh medium community school with approx. 90 pupils on roll.
