Description
A linear `trench? has been cut into the south-east facing slope of Pen Carreg Gopa close to enclosed land at the head of the Pemprys valley.
The V-profiled cut measures 6m long and 1m wide at base, 3m wide across the top. It is cut back into rising ground to a depth of about 1.2m. Upcast from the trench forms grassy banks on either side of it to an external height of 0.3m. The symmetry of this dumped material and the lack of loose rubble argues against the feature being related to mining, evidence for which is locally widespread. A shelter or store for root crops and other produce is a possible function. It lies some 70m to the south-west of a ruined building to which it may be linked (NPRN 418789).
