DescriptionDuring the 1860s, the coming of railways and the establishment of the nearby Mwyndy iron ore mine, resulted in Talbot Green growing from a tiny hamlet into a village. The name originates from the Talbot Arms, a public house built in 1859, and a row of houses called Talbot Row. Loftus Terrace was built in the late 19th century to house 33 miner's families. After World War Two, a number of factories were established close to the village, and the first housing estates were built.
