Description
Built on the River Clywedog this is the outlet control for the water supply to the King's Mill (SJ 346 949 / NPRN 24874). The site consists of a weir, pond, a sluice gate and bridge, the leat described separately (NPRN 418979). The weir is a stone built dam about 7m wide below which is a contained "cascade" with a fall of about 1m built between stone walls. The water to feed the leat held back by this dam is controlled by a modern sluice - presumed to be in working order. Over the leat just to the N is a small footbridge consisting of railway sleepers supported on girders - about 2m long.
