Description
This site consists of a short canalised part of the Black Brook dammed by a couple of weirs to provide two rectangular so-called "mirror pools" pools each about 3m wide. The water then falls over the lower weir and down a cascade which is at an angle of about 45 degrees. This is about three times as wide as the canal, ie about 10 m in all and consists of eight steps down which the water falls decoratively before continuing into the stream at the base, a distance of about 3.7m. The whole is built of stone, the cascade has low walls at the side with parapet in the same material. Probably conceved as a part of the nearby "Cup and Saucer or cylindrical fountain nearby.
