The former Intermediate School, Neath appears to have been built in 1873, possibly earlier. A ground plan and elevation drawing exist showing proposed alterations and additions to the school and these are dated 1894, by architect D.M. Jenkins.

The buildings have been demolished and the current site is occupied by Melin Primary School's Key Stage Two (junior site) phase, believed to have been built in the 1990s (NPRN 801295).
