Description
The Centre comprises four ranges of buildings set around a square. Opened on 25 June 1965 by H.M. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the market became a centre for wholesale distribution of fruit and vegetables in south Wales and beyond. All the buildings survive, with about half used as a fruit, vegetable and flower market and the others in a variety of alternative uses; at weekends the site is home to Cardiff's biggest car boot sales.
