DescriptionA short stretch of road, some 650metres long, was constructed in the early nineteenth century as part of Telford's Holyhead Road (nprn 402349), to by-pass the village of Cerrig-y-drudion or Cerrigydrudion. It was built to avoid the centre of the village, the approach to which from the northwest along the original road would have involved a climb of up to 1 in 14; Telford's maximum ruling gradient on the Holyhead Road was 1 in 20.
