DescriptionBuilt around 1912 as a Drill Hall for the Territorial Army. During the war years, it was used for dances for the many service personnel based at the nearby camp. It has been used for a variety of leisure and social activities. Following the successful application for a National Lottery grant from the Arts Council for Wales, extensive work has been carried to better house a Wurlitzer threatre organ, built in Tonawanda, New York State, originally installed in the Granada Cinema, Woolwich in South East London in 1937. It was first played by Reginald Dixon, best known to everyone as 'Mr Blackpool'. The organ is now owned by John Smallwood of Tywyn on permanent loan to the people of the town through the Tywyn Town Council. As a reminder of the hall's former military connections, plaques commemorating the support of the town to the war efforts have been reinstalled in the foyer.
