Description
The foundation stone for the Church of the Holy Trinity was laid in 1870 to replace a room which had been licensed some 20 years earlier to accommodate a large and growing population.
Built in the Early English Gothic style, the church is set in small churchyard near the north-east end of Greenfield, its east end facing the main road. Begun 1870 by Ewan Christian, the well known church architect, the chancel was added later in 1910-11 by John Douglas, architect of Chester. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings under a slate roof with cresting and gabled bellcote to the east end of the nave.
The plan comprises a nave with lean-to south aisle and stepped down chancel with vestry, and a low gabled porch on the south. Interior features include an arcade with cylindrical piers, an arched brace roof with stone brackets, gothic furnishings and painted reredos.
