St John's church lies above the north bank of the river Vyrnwy. It was built in 1852-3 (the foundation stone laid in April 1852, consecrated in August 1953) to designs of R.Kyrke Penson. The church is a plain structure built in a simple Early English style with nave and chancel under a continuous steeply-pitched roof, entrance in long south wall, and western bell gable. The interior is without structural division, lit at the east by a sanctuary window and three east gable lancets, under a substantial roof with arched braces resting on low imposts.
