A Mission Church was built in Ferndale in 1876. It does not appear on the Ordnance Survey first-edition 25-inch map of the area published in 1877. However, the second-edition map of 1900 portrays Christ Church on the west side of Station Road, built in the period 1883-6 (NPRN 14062). Adjacent to it, on the south, is a second building (annotated 'Church') which is the likely Mission Church precursor to Christ Church. If so, it was built at the northern edge of the settlement at a time of local industrial expansion. Both buildings have been demolished and the area re-developed.
