Description
London & North Western Railway Type 4 signal box built 1902, containing a contemporary 60-lever tumbler frame. The timber-framed box is set on a red brick locking room with five small iron-framed windows each side, one in the east end and a solid door in the west wall. The box has seven bays of alternate sliding and fixed windows overlooking the permanent way on the south, with further windows in the other three elevations, below which is a bracketed walkway to facilitate window cleaning. There is weatherboarding cladding between the windows and the eaves and in both gable ends, under a pitched slated roof with terminal finials. At the west end, a straight flight of steps with a handrail provides access to the working floor via a half-glazed door. The signal box is a part of Abergele and Pensarn Station (nprn 87068).
