Description
Nantgarw corn mill is shown on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey 25in mapping of 1875; on the second edition (1900) it is marked as 'Disused' and on the third edition of 1920 is annotated as a smithy. The building is shown but not annotated on the fourth edition of 1943 and was demolished in 1972. The 'Nantgarw Mill Forge Patent Safety Bar Hook' for coupling coal trams was devised at this forge in the early twentieth century.
