An area of eroded sand dunes where numerous flints have been found over a period of years by J.G. Rutter and others (O.S. Record Card SS 58 NW 12). These included two leaf-shaped flint arrowheads and an end scraper which are now in the R.I.S.W. Museum; the remainder being in the N.M.W. Early records mention three cairns but the O.S. discount this as they could find no evidence of artificial structures. Other accounts of this area mention the existence of cairns but it is quite possible that irregular piles of angular stones were just mistaken for man-made structures.
