Description
The church of St Mary is first mentioned in 1291, when it was assessed for taxation at £6 13s 4d. The current church of St Mary's dates to a complete rebuilding of 1895 however, the architect being E V Collier. The interior is built as one width, with no physical differentiation between the nave and chancel. There are three stained glass windows of early 20th century date, but perhaps the most significant memorial is to William Gambold, rector of Punchestion 1709-1728 and author of the first (though unpublished) Welsh dictionary.
