Description
A deserted settlement of medieval date is located on open land on the west side of Gelligaer Common, to the immediate north of Coly Uchaf farm. Known locally as 'Dinas Noddfa' (City of Refuge), the settlement spans an area of some 200m by 150m. It comprises two building platforms (NPRNs 15304-5), a smaller 'hut', two long parallel wall/banks with some irregular 'wandering' banks, and 16 small cairns. The platforms were excavated in the 1930s by A & C Fox (1).
