A former toll house stands on an earlier alignment of the current road beteween Bala and Dolgellau. It is a two storey building under a slate roof with a single central octagonal chimney and there is a covered verandah on the southeast elevation around the projecting semi-octagonal bay, with a roof supported by seven stone pillars. An ornamental stone gateway with substantial pillars lies just to the northeast.
