Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 23rd November 2012 identified earthworks of a probable deserted settlement c.520m south-east of Newton House. Earthworks show a curving hollow way running from north-west to south-east, with linking linear earthwork field boundaries springing from the west side. To the north of the hollow way are three or four rectangular platforms, visible as sharp-angled earthworks, together with other minor earthworks and traces of an embanked water course. The date is uncertain, and could conceivably be of Roman date.
