Description
Port Talbot Signal Box is a British Railways (Western Region) power box and dates from 1963. It lies to the south of the Oakwood Road level crossing with the south Wales main line, just southeast of Port Talbot Parkway Station (nprn 418307). It is a two storey structure of contemporary design, constructed in brown brick with large steel-framed windows under a flat roof. The (original 1963?) 'east' Entrance/Exit control panel (NX panel) was replaced by a VDU workstation controlling Solid State Interlocking in 2007, whilst the 'west' NX panel of 1963 remains in partial use controlling 1973 Route Relay Interlocking for Briton Ferry and Court Sart.
